What to buy?

Below are some of the item I regularly get asked about and links to some recommended sources

These items include exercise equipment, massage aids, hydration bottles, generally things you may find help towards your health and fitness goals.

Select the images to following links to possible sources.

Training Extras

Whether working out at home or in the gym some of these items may help you along the way

TRX style suspension trainer

TRX style suspension trainer

A suspension training devise such as the one I have selected here is quite versatile and can be great for adding variety to your workouts.

Skipping rope

Skipping rope

The one linked here is a very cheap basic one but I use it all of the time.

A great item for warm ups or fitness workouts at home.

Agility Ladder

This is great for working on things such as speed, agility, quick feet and is also quite versatile for other drills and exercises for example moving press ups etc. A great item that is cheap and takes up minimal space

Kettlebell

When performing workouts at home or in the park adding some resistance from kettlebells can vastly increase your workout options and therefore your ability to progress.

Many of these even get free delivery when ordered through Amazon

Agility hurdles

Ideal for speed, agility, running technique and plyometrics. Another versatile piece of equipment ideal for sports training sessions

Stepper

A piece of fitness equipment for warm ups, cool downs or general cardiovascular exercise that uses minimal space unlike the traditional treadmill, bike or rower.

Medball

A versatile bit of kit that can be used for core training, full body moves, power moves and adding resistance to basic exercises such as lunges

Dumbbells

Dumbbells

Ideal for home workouts may of these dumbbells when bought through Amazon come with free delivery and increase your ability to workout wherever suits you and still gain great benefits.

Cones

To aid agility training or mark out for runs etc.

Barbell cushion

Barbell Cushion

I personally use these regularly for exercises such as hip thrusts. Very well padded and durable so highly recommended.

Weightlifting Gloves

Weightlifting Gloves

If you are lifting weights some clients hate the thought of rough hands. These thin gloves will help to prevent hard skin and calluses.

Exercise mat

Exercise Mat

If you're doing your workouts at home or in the park one of these may be well worth it to help cushion your back during core training, your elbows in planks and many other exercises.

Foam Rollers & Resistance Bands

These are good as training or rehab aids

Long loop resistance bands

I use these mostly for upper body workouts to aid with pull ups, to loop under the feet for pull backs, to add resistance in a different way with exercises such as deadlifts or to assist with exercises such as pull ups.

Glute Bands

These bands are short elasticated loops that generally go just above the ankles or knees to provide extra resistance for your exercises. These are especially good for home workouts.

Glute bands

Thick material glute bands

These are like the previous but as they are firmer and do no slip or roll like the others I personally prefer them and they last longer too.

Foam Roller

Foam Roller

I often recommend the use of these to help relieve tension and 'self-massage' between sessions.

Theraband

Thin resistance theraband

These can be used to assist with stretching or, similar to the above, these can be used for exercises such as pull backs.

Massage Ball

These can help with specific areas of tension such as the feet for problems such as Plantar Fasciitis or the hips.

Drinks Bottles

Hydration is vital for injury recovery, weight management and optimal training

Hydration tracker bottle

Hydration tracker bottle

This bottle is great if you struggle to drink enough water throughout the day.

They have target times on the side to guide you with how much you should be drinking and increase your awareness of your hydration.

Fruit diffuser bottle

Fruit diffuser bottle

These can be great if you like to boost yourself with lemon water or just add some extra flavour to your water (but remember lemon water is great so long as you don't do it all of the time).

Thermal water bottle

Whether you want to keep you green tea warm or your water cold this is my new favourite bottle. It comes with a twist or straw style cap, nylon carry case and cleaning bits.
